4/12/2012 Osprey have landed!

Since Terra Contracting assisted Georgia Pacific and the Kalamazoo Nature Center in building an osprey platform in early March, everyone has waited with bated breath for the first osprey to take up residence. The first week of April proved to be moving day as the first photo of an osprey in the newly constructed nest was captured.

3/26/2012 Terra Assists With New Platform for Osprey

Georgia Pacific, Terra Contracting, and the Kalamazoo Nature Center worked collaboratively to install a new nesting platform for our Kalamazoo Osprey Family. This was to proactively avoid any likely conflicts that would arise with the new Kalamazoo River Valley Trail that's scheduled for construction this Spring. The new trail will wind it's way along the river bank and run directly next to the spot of the Osprey's former nesting pole.


3/9/2012 Buchanan High School Open After Mercury Spill

A student who spilled liquid mercury in Buchanan High School Wednesday is at home until an investigation into his actions is complete, according to the school district's business manager Richard Bell...Buchanan High School opened on time Thursday, but with three classrooms closed near the spill.  Bell said a private contractor, Terra, of Detroit, is in the process of cleaning the rooms and testing them for traces of mercury...

New Home for Osprey on former Georgia-Pacific mill site

At 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, Kalamazoo Nature Center (KNC) staff, working with Georgia-Pacific, Terra Contracting, local filmmaker Matt Clysdale and artist Brent Spink will provide a new nesting site for the Osprey that began nesting on an old power line pole on the former Georgia-Pacific mill site property in 2009. The nesting pair of Osprey has become a popular attraction and symbol for the returning health of the Kalamazoo River....

2/3/2012 Cleanup Begins on Chemical Spill into Kalamazoo River
